I love our vacations and I also love coming home. We had a great time and the absolute highlight was the last night, looking up from the dining table and seeing a bear walking across the driveway. It walked around the cabin and off into the woods, not stopping or even glancing at the building. What a thrill! He was so close! As I saw him in the distance he stood up and scratched a tree. I immediately thanked God for showing us this wonder up close, and as I did He reminded me that I had begun the day praying for a delight, and boy did He provide one!
We hiked a very steep, long path. The family is full of hikers, but I’m not one of them. I’m trying to be for their sake, but inclines and I have not ever been friends, and my Dad (an Appalachian Trail hiker) took us on day hikes as kids. The rest of the family falls more in love with hiking with each trail defeated. We’ll see if I survive this!
My back is sore from foreign beds, my legs are sore from the hiking, there are countless tasks awaiting me, yet I wouldn’t trade our time exploring for anything.
